With their introduction you no longer need to remove your laptops, tablets and toiletries at security. Hurrah!
These new scanners are not just upgrades; they are game-changers!
3D Imaging with enhanced detail: These state-of-the-art scanners offer detailed, clear 3D images, enabling security staff to view your belongings from all angles for a swift and precise evaluation, ensuring a seamless and quick journey airside.
No More Liquid and Electronics Hassle! Keep your liquids and electronics safely tucked away in your bags as you pass through security.
Travel with Ease! Enjoy a more streamlined and stress free airport experience, these new scanners will half your time spent passing through security, allowing you to focus on what really matters – a visit to duty free, or more time to enjoy one last cool Cisk or chilled glass of Maltese vino!
Each scanner, also known as a C3 scanner, has a price tag of circa €500,000, representing a mammoth total investment of approximately €3 million!
Sadly for the moment we do still need to adhere to the 100ml liquid restriction. Bah humbug!

The arrival of the brand-new scanners is perfectly timed as the airport gears up for an incredible influx of nearly 230,000 passengers from now until New Year's Eve!
The peak travel days are set to be those between Christmas and New Year, particularly December 27th, 28th, and 29th. But fear not, even in the airport festive fun awaits.
To make your holiday experience even more memorable, the airport team has organized a fantastic line-up of holiday-themed events for families to enjoy at the Airport Food Court on level -1. And guess what? Santa Claus himself will be making a special appearance on Monday, December 23rd, from 5 pm to 8 pm! This is your chance to snap a magical photo with Santa on his sleigh!
Delicious treats also await, indulge in a complimentary cup of mulled wine from a delightful stall located next to Gate 1 in the Departures Hall. What a perfect way to warm up before your journey!
